Zion National Park

We arrived in Zion at a time of year when the weather is perfect and the crowds are small. Zion National Park contains an abundance of photo opportunities but at the same time is extremely challenging to shoot. Since the cloudless skies were in abundance during most of our visit, I took the opportunity to focus on shooting some more intimate settings in the park but was able to grab some images of the Virgin river on a partially cloudy day.

My favorite image form this set was one I titled “Zion Gold”. The evening sun lit up the rocks, exposing the iron pyrite beneath the water. This was taken with my Canon 5Dsr 24-70 f2.8 L | ISO100 | f/7.1 | 4.0 Sec using an ND 64 filter.
