Port Aransas, TX

We arrived to South Texas to amazing, although a bit humid weather. This is the third year we have visited Port Aransas and each time we arrive, we understand why we make this part of our yearly plans. December is a fantastic time of year in Port Aransas. The “Winter Texan” rush has not yet started and the weather is quite warm.

There is no shortage of photo opportunities in Port Aransas and as an added bonus. the RV park we are in is located adjacent to the beach making it very convenient to head out and explore all the Gulf Coast has to offer.

The ocean is pretty calm in this area and the waves are not what I would consider to be epic in any way. And while not the “Banzai Pipeline”, I am a firm believer that there are photo opportunities everywhere and all you need is a little vision and some gear. The 5Dsr and its 50MP sensor allows for pretty creative and tight crops which really allows me focus in on the interesting parts of the waves as they break.

Here are a few from my most recent photo shoots - These images were taken with my Canon 5Dsr using my 24-105 EF L and 100-400 EF L. I used a Polar Pro 6 Stop ND filter from my “Summit” system for the first image.
