Chasing Desert Color (Part II)
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon here in Mesa, AZ. A recent storm had passed to the North of us so we were out running our errands on a pretty dreary kind of day.. As the late afternoon approached, I noticed a break in the clouds to the west which allowed the sun to cast amazing light on the mountain.
Seeing this, I grabbed my gear and headed back out to capture some images. I arrived a short time later and headed up the trail. The cloud cover over the Flat Iron had dissipated so I turned my attention to the Superstition Mountains located to the North of my position. The light bathing the mountains was magical so I pulled out my 100-400 f4 L and using a Graduated ND filter, began shooting away.
After grabbing some images of the distant mountains, I headed farther up the trail to work on my panorama skills. The light casted a golden hue on the mountain and on foreground and I quickly found a composition that I was pleased with.
The final image of the Flat Iron in this shoot, is comprised of 16 focus stacked images and 4 final images stitched together in a panorama.
The images were taken with my Canon 5Dsr using my Cannon 24-70 f2.8L. They were shot at f/11 at 1/200 of a sec with an ISO of 100.
